2 Months

Well, we have made it to 2 months! I know I say this all the time, but I just cannot get over how quickly this baby is growing!  We have seen so many changes in him this past month!

  • Sam started smiling at 6 weeks- he is now smiling all the time!  He loves it when mommy and daddy talk to him.
  • He also loves his big brother!  George loves to give him kisses and play with him and Sam loves it!
  • He is cooing with us all of the time.  We love hearing his sweet little voice :)  My SIL and I were talking about how sweet his baby noises are, and she had the best idea of recording them.  So  I will be posting a video of this soon.
  • Sam loves his bath!  He never fusses during bath time, and really enjoys splashing around in the water.
  • He is on a pretty good schedule- only waking one time during the night between 3:30 and 4:30, usually.  Occasionally he even sleeps through the night!
  • Sam had his 2 month check-up and he is doing great!  Here are his stats:
    • Weight: 13 lbs 15 ounces- between 75th and 90th percentile (closer to 90th)
    • Height: 24 inches long- 85th percentile  He is a big boy! :)
Lastly, because I started this blog after Sam turned 1 month old, here is his 1 month picture!

I can't get over how much he has grown in a month!

Welcome to P.C. & Gigi's Visit

This past weekend my sweet mother-in-law and two of her friends hosted a wonderful welcome to Panama City party for me. It was so much fun!   I met a wonderful group of girls, all with kids, so we had lots in common! We had a beautiful lunch and got to spend some time getting to know everyone. Thanks so much to my sweet and thoughtful MIL for putting so much time and effort into making me feel so special and welcome! :)

My mom (aka Gigi) had been planning to come visit us (especially her favorite boys), so the weekend of the party was a perfect time!  It was so great having her here; George and Sam loved it too.  It was a perfect weekend!

George loves reading and cuddling with Gigi!

The boys were not happy campers when it was time for Gigi to go

We love you Gigi and can't wait for you to come back soon!

The Big 18 Months

I can't believe our baby is 18 months old..a year and a half! It just sounds so old. This is such a huge
milestone!  Where did our baby go?  George is growing up so fast..too fast.  He isn't a baby anymore..he's suddenly turned into a little boy in what seems like overnight.  It's crazy how since Sam has been born it seems like George has grown up so much.  While I definitely love the baby stage, this toddler stage is so much fun! George is such a wonderful, happy child and we are enjoying every minute with him.
There have been so many changes lately.  Here is what George is up to lately:

  • He is growing! George moved up to the 25th % at his 18 month up check-up.  I was soo excited.  He now weighs 22 lbs.  He is wearing 12-18 month clothing and size 5 shoes.  We moved up to the size 4 diapers recently.

  • He is eating ALL THE TIME!  His favorite foods are: pancakes, any kind of pasta, mac and cheese, all fruit (especially watermelon and grapes), cookies, hot dogs. any kind of beans.  He is not a picky eater at all, which I am so thankful for!  He usually eats whatever we are having for dinner.  I love having him try new foods!

  • George is starting to talk to us a lot more these days.  He love to say thank you, and say it whenever you hand him something which is so cute :)  He also loves to say "bubba" for his brother.

  • George became a big brother at 17 months.  He loves his little brother so much!  One of his favorite things to do is give his "bubba" hugs and kisses!  It is just precious.

Here are the boys playing together.  Love these boys so much!
  • George loves to play with his toys.  Some of his favorites are: "Lightening" his pony, any kind of push toy- especially his Thomas the Train and lawnmower, blocks, trucks and his train set.

  • At 18 months we transitioned to a big boy bed!  Well, we transitioned out of the crib into his toddler bed.  This was huge!  George has started climbing on everything, and we knew it wasn't long until he was climbing out of his crib.  So, we decided it was time for George to get a big boy room!  Here are some pictures of his new room:

  • His favorite shows are Barney and The Cat in the Hat. George LOVES Barney.  He gets so excited when it comes on, he squeals and starts dancing!
  • George also LOVES to dance!  He has so many many great dance moves!  He dances all the time- to Barney, to music, to commercials, and on request.  It is too cute!

Baby Love: Sam 7 Weeks

Our sweet baby boy is now 7 weeks old!  I cannot get over how quickly time flies.  We have been very busy lately with two little ones, visits with family and friends, surviving the heat in Panama City and trying to catch up on some sleep in between :)

Here is what Sam is up to lately:
  • Smiling and cooing all the time!  He seems to love his mommy's voice and lights up when I start talking to him :)
  • He is growing like a weed!  Sam weighed 11 pounds 9 ounces and measured 23.5 inches at his one month check up.  He is in the 50-75th percentile for weight and 95th for height.  What a big boy!
  • Sleeping great but still not all the way through the night..still waking me up once around 4 am.  He loves to eat!
  • We are on  a pretty good routine- following the Eat, Activity, Sleep method.
  • This baby loves to eat! He is nursing great-about every 3 hours during the day- I have started pumping and he also enjoys a bottle before bed
  • He loves being swaddled.  If he starts to get fussy I swaddle him, give him his paci , rock him and he calms right down
  • We have been in size 1 diapers, but just moved up to size 2!
  • He likes: playing with George, his play mat, playing peek-a-boo, his bath, sleeping, eating, cuddling, being rocked and his swing.
We are so blessed with another wonderful baby!

Ten Fingers and Ten Toes

Samuel Robert Ramsey arrived on June 13, weighing 8 lbs 9 oz and 22 inches long.

He is now 7 weeks old and we are so in love!  This post is overdue, but since I am just beginning my blog I had to post his birth story. So the story goes..

Sam measured on the large side throughout my pregnancy.  So, since we knew we were going to have a big baby Dr. Favor thought it would be best for me to be induced at 39 weeks.  My induction was set for Wednesday, June 13. Drew and I were so excited and could hardly wait to meet our new addition. At my 38 week appointment Dr. Favor checked to see if I was dilated and I wasn't.  To help make sure the induction went smoothly she scheduled me to come in Tuesday night to get the process started.

Tuesday June 12th arrived before we knew it.  We had a really nice family day.  Spent the morning with George enjoying his favorites, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Barney.  Drew went and picked up Chick Fil A for lunch while I made sure we were all packed and ready to go.  We arrived at the hospital at 4:45 and I was so nervous.  I'm not sure why, since it was our second baby and I knew what to expect.  Both my mom dad as well as Drew's mom met us at the hospital as well.  Around 5:15 Dr. Favor came in to give me a drug called Cervadil.  This is where a balloon is inserted to help your body prepare for labor and start dilating.  This was the most painful part of labor and delivery!  I was so glad once it was over.  The rest of the evening we just hung out in the room, watched TV and tried to get as much rest as we could.  It was hard to sleep because I was so excited/nervous!

In the morning my night  nurse came in to wake me up before her shift ended.  She was so sweet and wanted to make sure I was able to take a shower and get ready before everything got started.  I was so happy to be able to do this!  Around 8:00 Dr. Favor came in to check me.  The Cervadil worked and I was 4 cm dilated!  At this point she broke my water and started the Pitocin.  This kicked in quickly!  In no time I was having strong contractions.  I knew that once you get an epidural there is the risk of it stopping your labor, so I wanted to hold out on meds. for as long as possible.  I only made it about a hour and a half.  By 9:30 the contractions had become more than I could handle and I requested an epidural.  At this point I was 5 cm dilated and moving right along!  After the epidural I felt much better!

This is where things get a little crazy.  Around 11:15 Drew decided he was hungry and wanted to leave and go grab something to eat.  He asked my nurse, Deb, how long she thought we had before baby Sam's arrival.  She said she wouldn't know until she checked to see how much progress I had made.  Since it had been about 2 hours she decided it was time to check.  Good thing she did!  I was fully dilated and we were ready to proceed with delivery!  I had no idea, and didn't feel a thing. Thing's are a little fuzzy from here because we moved so quickly.  Dr. Favor was paged and she rushed down for us to begin.  This all took place in about 10 min.  It was amazing how fast everything went, and how I didn't feel a thing! (which I am very thankful for) Samuel Robert was born at 11:33 a.m.  We could not have been more excited and thankful for our beautiful, healthy son.
These pictures tell the story well:

For the past few weeks:

  • We have had lots of visitors. I have been terrible at taking pictures so far, so I am sorry that I don't have many to post on here of our friends and family!
  • Sam is such a wonderful baby.  For the most part he is very calm, until George starts running around which will stir him up.
  • He is a great little nurser! Sam eats every three hours during the day, and only wakes me up for one middle of the night feeding :)
  • Sam is such a little chunk!  He was back to his birth weight by one week, and at 4 weeks weighed 11 and a half pounds
  • He loves his bath!  Sam has never cried during bath time.  He is always so alert, and really enjoys splashing in the water.
